What is here

Four parts that work on their own or together.

Learning paths

Short lessons in order. Foundations starts from no background; the other paths go deeper into one category each.

Challenges

File-based puzzles in cryptography, forensics, reverse engineering, OSINT, steganography and misc. Each one has a flag in the form CTF-ORION{...}.

Events

Timed competitions with their own scoreboard. In events every team gets its own copy of each flag, so sharing can be traced.

Upcoming events

Teams

Play alone or in a team of up to 25. Team and solo boards are kept separate.

How it works

From sign-up to your first flag.

  1. Make an account

A username, an email and a password. Reading lessons does not need one; submitting flags does.

  2. Learn the basics

Work through Foundations, or jump to the path of the category you like.

  3. Solve and submit

Download the files, find the flag, paste it on the challenge page. Points follow the level: 100 for Beginner up to 500 for Insane.

  4. Join a team or an event

Create a team with a join code, register for an event, and compete on its scoreboard.

Who it is for

  • People starting out who want a clear order to learn things in.
  • Players who want practice challenges and a scoreboard.
  • Teachers who want to share lessons and challenges. Content is reviewed before it goes live.
  • Clubs and communities that want to run their own event.

Who runs it

CTF-ORION is a product of QudsLab. Sign-in protection and abuse detection use TracePrint, another QudsLab product. The admin team reviews teaching content, hosting proposals and fair-play cases.

Questions, ideas and bug reports are welcome on the contact page. Rules for players are on the fair play page.
